Doctor and Optical Shop Recommendations

This page is an experiment that I’ve decided to try after receiving a number of requests for recommendations for doctors and glasses shops.  I am trying to collect doctors and glasses retailers that our reader recommend.  Please know that these are only recommendations based on personal experiences – different people may have very different experiences at the same place, and being listed here does not indicate any kind of official endorsement by Little Four Eyes.

Have a for an eye doctor that’s amazing or a glasses shop that’s spectacular?  Fill out this form and I’ll add the information to this page.  I’m only looking for positive recommendations – doctors you’ve loved, or places you’ve gotten great service and great glasses.

Eye care and Eye glasses providers – if you would like to be listed, please ask a patient or customer to fill out the recommendation form.

I’m organizing this page by location, and any and all locations are welcome!

Dr. Amita Bhatt, Newton Wellesley Hospital

We’ve been referred to Dr. Amita Bhatt as well and saw her during a couple of visits. The eye exams she does are spectacular, but I haven’t been able to find much info on the Doc, when I researched her. Are you pleased with her and the results, Carol?

P.S. Like her optometrist too — Bob Owens (same office).

Hi Helen, We’ve never seen Bob Owens but we saw another optham. and he was awful so that is why we switched to Dr. Bhatt. What issues does your child have? Mine are very myopic. They are three. Carol

My 2 yr old is far-sighted (+3) and has amblyopia. Although I’m still confused over the actual diagnosis. Dr. Bhatt is the only PO that we’ve ever seen (and she was recommended by our Ped. who’s right next door to her at NWH, and, though she seems very good, I feel we’ve never even tried to search for anyone else). Who recommended Dr. Bhatt to you?

I went to that office since I was nine years old so since i knew the other dr’s I decided to take my kids to her. There’s another in Franklin, Dr. John Hatch who is very good.

Can I un-recommend Eyewear Specialists in Edina, MN? They had good prices – but their customer service is TERRIBLE!

Children’s Hospital Boston, Massachusetts (Opthalmology also has satellite offices in Waltham, Peabody, and Lexington, MA)

We see Dr. Danielle LeDoux in the Peabody satellite office. She has such a way with young children and explains everything to parents very well. (including by phone, if parents aren’t able to ask questions during difficult appointments)

My kids love her, even though she dilates their eyes once a year — and that’s saying something! When my daughter was younger, we saw Dr. Deborah Vanderveen, she is also outstanding.

I also recommend The Glasses Menagerie in Minneapolis. They had a good selection, excellent service, and the shop specializes in children’s eyewear.

Can anyone recommend an optical store in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, that specializes or has a vast selection of kids’ frames?
